CAPT Ronald G. Ress, JAGC, USNR (Ret.), is proud to be the grandfather of Mikey Crowley, whose vision became Rides for Heroes.  CAPT Ress retired from the Naval Reserve as the senior Naval Reserve Judge Advocate in Europe.  Previous military assignments included command of a Naval Reserve Legal Service Office in Oregon and as Staff Judge Advocate for the Seabees’ Third Brigade in Port Hueneme, CA.  In his civilian career as an attorney with the Office of the General Counsel of the Navy, he served as Counsel to Commander, Marine Corps Air Bases, Western Area and as Counsel to Naval Facility Engineering Commands in Naples, Italy and Hawaii.  In his final civilian assignment he was General Counsel for the Admiral commanding Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia.  Earlier in his career, Mr. Ress was a partner in a law firm in Beverly Hills and Vice President/General Counsel of a major real estate developer.  Ron and his wife Oanh reside in Carlsbad, California

Colonel Tom Caughlan, USMC (Ret.) is the Governmental Affairs Program Manager for Marine Corps Installations West, the regional command overseeing all of the Marine Corps bases and stations in the Southwest.  The first Marine Commanding Officer of MCAS Miramar, his 30-year career as a Naval Aviator included squadron tours in Southern California, multiple deployments to the Western Pacific, duty with NATO, service in Operation Desert Storm, and as an instructor with the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.   Following his Marine Corps career, Tom was the founding Executive Director of the San Diego Fleet Week Foundation and one of founders of the San Diego Military Advisory Council.  He is a member of the adjunct faculty of the Marine Corps University and a life member of the San Diego Holiday Bowl Game Association.  Tom and his wife Suzan live in San Diego.
